BMW iX4 electric crossover offers over 400 miles of range

BMW has revealed the iX4, an all-electric version of its X4 crossover that offers up to 428 miles of range and up to 603 horsepower.

BMW has confirmed the iX4 as a fully electric crossover, joining its Neue Klasse generation of vehicles with a claimed range of up to 428 miles and a top power output of 603 horsepower from a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup.

For everyday drivers, a quoted range of over 400 miles puts the iX4 among the more capable electric vehicles available. That figure approaches the 434-mile range of the iX3, which itself drew attention for its long-distance credentials, and it means the iX4 is broadly competitive with the best-range EVs currently on the market, according to multiple reports.

The iX4 comes with M Sport styling as standard, which means the sportier exterior look is included from the base trim rather than being an optional extra buyers have to pay for separately. Pricing in the United States starts at around 66,200 dollars before destination charges, though UK pricing has not yet been confirmed by BMW.

The car sits within BMW's Neue Klasse programme, which represents the brand's dedicated electric vehicle architecture rather than an adapted version of an existing petrol platform. For drivers weighing up an electric crossover in the X4's size class, the iX4's combination of range, power and standard equipment levels is likely to make it a significant point of comparison when it reaches the UK market.
