Volvo has launched the EX60 in the UK, and according to multiple reports, it represents the most capable electric vehicle the Swedish brand has yet produced, with a claimed range of up to 503 miles and ultra-rapid charging capability built into a new electric platform called SPA3.
The EX60 sits in Volvo's own line-up between the smaller EX40 and the larger EX90, measuring 4.8 metres in length. That places it squarely in the premium medium-sized electric SUV category, where it now faces two well-regarded rivals: the BMW iX3, which made a strong impression earlier this year, and the recently launched Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric. Multiple reviews note that this corner of the EV market has become genuinely competitive, with each of the three cars offering a meaningful step forward in technology and refinement.
For everyday drivers, the headline figures are worth knowing. A 503-mile range claim, if borne out in real-world driving, would remove most range anxiety from longer motorway runs, and ultra-rapid charging means topping up on a suitable public charger could take considerably less time than with older EVs. The SPA3 platform is new to Volvo and underpins the EX60 specifically, so it should also bring improvements in the way the car drives and handles compared with earlier models in the range.
