Suzuki e Sky: the tiny electric car heading to UK roads in 2027

Suzuki is preparing to launch a small electric car called the e Sky in Europe, with the UK among the markets expected to receive it shortly after its home-market debut in Japan later this year, according to multiple reports.

The e Sky sits in the kei car class, a category of very small, lightweight vehicles that have long been popular in Japan due to their compact dimensions and low running costs. This will be Suzuki's third production electric vehicle, joining the e Vitara small SUV and the e Every kei van in the brand's growing electric line-up.

What makes the e Sky particularly interesting is its approach to range and weight. Rather than fitting a large battery pack, Suzuki has kept the battery deliberately small to hold the car's weight down. Despite that, the car is reported to offer around 193 miles of range from that compact pack, which suggests it could be a practical choice for everyday town driving and shorter commutes without the bulk or expense associated with bigger electric cars.

For UK drivers, the arrival of a genuinely small, lightweight electric car at a mainstream brand would offer something different from the growing number of larger, heavier EVs currently on sale. Kei-style cars tend to be easy to park, inexpensive to run and well suited to urban use. Pricing and full specifications have not been confirmed, but with a European launch anticipated in the first half of 2027, further details are expected to follow the Japanese reveal later this year.
