Nissan Pixo returns as an electric city car for 2027

Nissan is bringing back the Pixo name with an all-electric city car, reviving a badge that once stood for small, affordable urban motoring and pointing it squarely at drivers who spend most of their time navigating town and city streets.

According to multiple reports, the new Pixo sits in the A-segment, the smallest category of passenger cars on sale in Europe. It shares its production line with the Renault Twingo Electric and the new Dacia Spring, all three of which will be built at the Renault plant in Novo Mesto, Slovenia. That shared manufacturing base suggests a close technical relationship between the three models, though Nissan has not publicly detailed the engineering it has in common with its platform partners.

Deliveries of the Pixo are scheduled to begin in early 2027, giving prospective buyers some time to plan ahead. However, Nissan has not yet announced a price for the car, so it is not yet possible to say how it will sit financially against rivals in the small EV market.

For everyday drivers, a new entrant in this class matters because affordable, compact electric cars remain relatively thin on the ground in the UK. A small EV designed with tight urban streets in mind could suit commuters, city dwellers and second-car households looking to cut fuel and running costs without stepping up to a larger vehicle. Whether the Pixo delivers on that in practice will depend heavily on pricing and range figures, neither of which Nissan has confirmed at this stage.
