Genesis has officially revealed the GV90, its flagship electric SUV, and the production car stays remarkably close to the concept that previewed it, bringing rotating front seats, pillarless coach doors and 24-inch wheels to the road.
The interior is the headline feature. According to multiple reports, the front seats can swivel to face rearward, allowing all four occupants to sit facing one another in what amounts to a lounge-style seating arrangement inside the cabin. The generous interior dimensions make this practical rather than merely theatrical, giving passengers meaningful legroom when the configuration is used.
On the outside, the GV90 uses what are known as coach doors, meaning there is no B-pillar between the front and rear doors. When both sides open, the entrance to the cabin is completely unobstructed, which makes getting in and out considerably easier and adds to the sense of occasion. The 24-inch wheels are among the largest fitted to a production SUV in this class.
Genesis is pitching the GV90 directly at buyers who might otherwise consider BMW or Mercedes-Benz at the top of the market, according to multiple reports. Whether UK drivers warm to the Korean brand at that price point remains to be seen, but the specification suggests Genesis is serious about competing at the highest level rather than simply offering an alternative.
