Ford Mustang Mach-E gets longer range and new trail trim for 2027
Ford has updated the Mustang Mach-E for 2027, making the extended-range battery standard across the entire lineup and adding a new off-road-oriented Trail trim.
Ford has confirmed that the 2027 Mustang Mach-E will come with a longer-range battery fitted as standard on every version of the car, alongside the introduction of a new Trail trim that brings lifted suspension for rougher roads.
The extended-range battery, which was previously a paid upgrade, is now included across the full lineup at no extra cost, according to multiple reports. That means buyers who previously had to spend more to get the longer range will now receive it as part of the standard specification, effectively reducing the real-world cost of the vehicle even if the headline price does not change.
The new Trail trim adds raised suspension to the mix, giving the Mach-E a more capable stance on uneven surfaces. This takes the electric Mustang in a direction it has not previously explored, broadening its appeal beyond the urban and motorway driving it is best known for.
For UK drivers considering an electric car in this class, the changes mean the 2027 Mach-E offers more range without requiring a deliberate upgrade decision at the point of purchase. Anxiety over range is one of the most commonly cited concerns among drivers thinking about switching to electric, so building the longer battery in as standard removes one barrier from the buying process. The Trail trim may also attract drivers who want an EV with a slightly more versatile character than the standard model provides.
