Biography
Mark Smyth is an award-winning motoring journalist with more than 20 years of experience reporting on the cars, the technology and the people of the global automotive industry. He spent over a decade as a national motoring editor before moving to freelance work, and now contributes to more than forty publications in the UK and internationally.
His writing appears in titles including Autocar, Auto Express, The Telegraph, Octane, Motor Sport, Classic and Sportscar and Car Design News, as well as outlets across Ireland, the United States and South Africa. He covers new model launches, car design, engineering and technology, industry trends, road safety and the classic car world, alongside interviews and opinion.
Beyond the printed and digital page, Mark has presented a commercial vehicles show on CNBC, hosted a motoring radio show for many years, and creates car reviews and features on his Motorscribe YouTube channel. He also provides PR and media communications to names in the classic car world, including a major international auction house.
He has been recognised with several industry awards, including Newspress Automotive Business Journalist of the Year, Automotive Technology Writer of the Year, the Guild of Motoring Writers and AA Campaigning for Safety Award, and a Motoring Editor of the Year award in 2018.
